Adam has always loved to build things. He started with tree forts and a half-pipe skateboard ramp (which he is still very proud of); then at age 13, his father began dropping him off at jobsites to work as a laborer. Construction continues to be his passion, and Adam now has the privilege to say that he's been involved in more than 60 projects with Vanman Architects and Builders, Inc.
Angie is a licensed professional architect at Vanman Architects and Builders and has been working with religious facilities since 2001. She takes a personal approach to design, establishing lasting relationships with her clients. With each committee and congregation, Angie enjoys developing ideas and solutions that will meet their specific needs, while also meeting state and local codes. Her religious experience and knowledge allow her to embrace each challenge of a project, whether it be the design of a new worship space, or the complicated task of revitalizing and expanding the spaces of existing ministries.
From a very young age, Holly has been refusing to clean her room without two days to first plan a rearranged layout and organizational system. This affinity led to drafting classes in high school and, despite an aptitude test that suggested Park Ranging, Holly decided to follow her tech-ed department's encouragement and passion for design. In college, she recognized the benefit of a holistic approach to architecture and pursued further knowledge in landscape architecture in addition to studying interior design on her own time.
As a kid, everything Brenda experienced on the family farm in northwestern Minnesota was a lesson in grace, gratitude, and generosity. Little did she know she’d spend her entire vocation helping others learn those same lessons at the intersection of faith and philanthropy.
Brenda’s first capital campaigns helped establish new churches all across the country. By mid-career, she led a $100 million campaign for Gustavus Adolphus College following a devastating tornado.
But her “best campaign ever” will always be the one she helped her home congregation conduct, inviting major gifts side-by-side with her Dad and turning the spade at ground breaking with her 90-year-old grandmother. Passing on the legacy of faith to the next generation means everything to her!
Reverend Jana Swenson spent the first fifteen years of her career in pastoral ministry. As a pastor, she worked with a campaign consultant who helped her understand fundraising as a ministry. This experience inspired Jana to expand her impact as a fundraising consultant, guiding congregations in raising the funds needed to fulfill their ministry and facility goals.
Over the last fifteen years, Jana has refined her expertise in strategic planning, campaign management, major donor engagement, and volunteer recruitment. Her work with numerous churches and organizations has consistently yielded significant results. Jana is committed to fostering a spirit of generosity and equipping church leaders to confidently engage others in reaching their ministry and facility goals through the investment of their financial resources.

Vanman Architects and Builders is an architecturally-led design-build firm in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Established in 1957, our firm has developed a rich history and understanding of the church construction field. We are one of the only architectural firms in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area that maintains our own in-house construction staff, resulting in higher-quality design, increased affordability, and total client satisfaction.
For 60 years, building for ministry has been our passion and the core of our firm. We have built, expanded or helped renovate hundreds of structures, collaborating with each congregation to ensure that we meet the needs of the ministry while still echoing their unique personality, traditions and heritage. Together, we design and build places that matter in the community.
